FAQ

How often should I get my piano tuned?

In someone's home a piano should ideally be tuned twice a year, especially in an area like New England: once after the heat comes on, and once after you turn it off.

If the piano is used more vigorously, it may need to be tuned even more frequently.

How should I prepare for a service visit?

A great way to make sure your technician can maximize their time with your piano is to make sure the top of the piano is cleared off.  Also, are there any other issues with your piano besides the tuning?  Take notice of any non-functional notes, etc. so you can tell the technician when they arrive.

What's an RPT?

"RPT" stands for Registered Piano Technician.  This is a title recognized by the Piano Technicians Guild.  It means the technician has passed a number of rigorous exams designed to test her ability to perform various common repairs, as well as tune and regulate pianos at industry standard.
